About Shirley Wong

I have always believed in the power of education to transform lives and pave pathways for upward social mobility. I am currently deepening my understanding at Harvard University, where I am pursuing a Master’s in Education specialising in Human Development and Education. My focus lies at the intersection of developmental psychology and education. In 2016, in collaboration with YMCA, I co-founded Boundless, an education non-profit that empowers under-resourced, high-achieving adolescents by providing career discovery and mentorship. Our efforts have supported 150+ underprivileged students, with many securing admissions and scholarships at world-class institutions like Cambridge and UChicago. Our work won us recognitions, including winning Hong Kong’s Reimagine Education Challenge, amidst 100+ competing education startups and social enterprises. Before venturing into the education field, I practiced financial regulations and Fintech law at Latham & Watkins LLP, where I advised financial institutions and Fintech companies on financial regulatory matters relating to business establishment and Fintech projects. Academically, I broke barriers as a first-generation student to be the first in my high school’s history to attend Cambridge, as the top 1% student in Hong Kong. I was selected as a Hong Kong Jockey Club scholar and a scholar of the Hong Kong Scholarship for Excellence Scheme to pursue my studies at Harvard and Cambridge, respectively.
