Dr. Thorpe holds a B.S. in Physics from Western Washington University, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with Honors. He went on to earn a Ph.D. in Laser Physics from the University of Colorado/JILA. His areas of specialization include laser remote sensing, laser frequency stabilization, and molecular spectroscopy and detection.

Dr. Thorpe initially served as Lead Optical Scientist at Bridger Photonics. During his tenure, he led the development of the company's first two products: the MIR Series laser and the SLM-IM dimensional metrology system, showcasing his proficiency in optical science and technology development.
