About Kelly Kirby Ballentine
Kelly Kirby Ballentine is a Partner in Burns & Levinson’s Business Litigation Group with a focus on management-side employment counseling and disputes, in addition to other company-related litigation. Kelly helps companies implement best practices to avoid litigation by providing advice and documents for employment-related issues, such as wage and hour laws, leave laws, employee handbooks, pay plans, separation agreements, and restrictive covenants, including real-time guidance for handling employee complaints, personnel issues, and other management concerns. She also helps her corporate clients navigate claims to their insurers, to find coverage wherever it might exist. Kelly’s clients vary significantly—from individuals to startups to large companies—in a range of industries such as automotive, consumer products and services, lending, real estate, and finance. The paths of action they wish to pursue vary as well. Kelly believes that for each problem, there is often more than one solution, and virtually every time, there are many ways to accomplish that solution. Some clients like to be more involved than others, but for each client, Kelly seeks a mutual understanding of what the client hopes to get out of the engagement. Prior to joining Burns & Levinson, Kelly practiced as a litigation associate for a large law firm. During her time at University of Connecticut School of Law, from which she graduated cum laude, Kelly earned her Tax Studies Certificate. Her undergraduate degree from Boston University’s School of Management Honor Program, magna cum laude, fostered a deeper understanding of her client’s business-related legal disputes.
