About David Breiner
David Breiner is an experienced investment director with particular expertise in managing alternative investments for endowments, foundations, and family offices. David provides investment consulting advice to institutional and family office clients on a range of endowment management matters including investment policy and asset allocation, manager selection, capital market conditions, risk management, governance, spending policy, and liquidity management. His endowment, foundation and family office clients vary in size from $75 million to $2 billion and include both advisory and discretionary (OCIO) engagements. David serves as a Managing Director with Cambridge Associates, where he has directed the allocation of hundreds of millions of dollars of client assets into a variety of marketable alternative investment vehicles. In his role as an alternatives allocator, David sources and researches marketable strategies and managers, and performs a portfolio management role with respect to manager structure, sizing, and oversight. David has developed an expertise in diverse marketable alternatives strategies spanning equity long/short, event-driven, structured and corporate credit opportunities, distressed, quantitative equities, systematic global macro, and fixed income relative value. His work is informed by his prior experience as an established equity research professional with Bear Stearns, Prudential Securities, and other firms, where he provided insights and recommendations in the software sector to institutional clients in the U.S. and Europe. David serves as a pro bono advisor to the Menlo Park Atherton Education Foundation, a fund dedicated to local public teacher training and support. David holds an MBA from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business and a BS in engineering from Stanford University.
