Rekha Shetty has held multiple roles at Catholic Relief Services (CRS) over a span of more than a decade. She served as the Management Quality Director from 2008 to 2010 in New Delhi, India. Following this role, she was the Director of Emergency Relief and Recovery from 2010 to 2019, also in New Delhi. Since 2019, she has been the Office Head in Afghanistan. Throughout her tenure at CRS, she has contributed to various programs, including overseeing large project teams and providing strategic direction for USAID funded initiatives.

Rekha Shetty holds a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from the College of Social Work Nirmala Niketan, which she attended from 1985 to 1988. She furthered her education with a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from the Institute For Psychotherapy And Management Sciences, completing her studies from 2004 to 2006. She possesses in-depth knowledge in thematic areas such as Climate Change adaptation, WASH (Water & Sanitation), Livelihood, and Shelter, along with strong expertise in managing MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning) policies.

Background

Rekha Shetty began her career as a Social Worker at Bal Asha Trust from 1988 to 1991. She then transitioned to research roles, serving as a Research Investigator at both the College of Social Work Nirmala Niketan and the National Institute Of Criminology And Forensic Sciences in 1989 and 1990, respectively. She joined Catholic Relief Services in 1991, where she worked in various capacities, including Internal Auditor and Programme Executive (Logistics) until 2003.

Achievements

During her time at Catholic Relief Services, Rekha Shetty led large project teams comprising over 80 members, enhancing the program capacity of partner communities. She provided strategic direction for the USAID funded Title II food Country Program in India and trained project delivery teams across various states. Her expertise also extends to procurement and supply chain management for disaster relief and aid programs, demonstrating her capability in managing complex logistical challenges.
