Sony Belizaire has been serving as the ICT4D Manager at Catholic Relief Services (CRS) since 2014. In this role, he collaborates with CRS Programs teams, headquarters, regional offices, and country offices to leverage technology for program deliverables. He is responsible for optimizing the ICT4D unit and introducing new ICT4D projects. His work includes providing technical assistance, developing databases and systems, and offering training and capacity development services. He also manages electronic data collection, management, and mapping needs within the CRS Haiti country program.
Previous Experience at Cisco Systems and Amway Global
Before joining CRS, Sony Belizaire worked as an IT instructor at Cisco Systems from 2006 to 2009 in Delmas. His role involved educating individuals on IT concepts and practices. Additionally, he worked at Amway Global as an Independent Business Owner (IBO) from 2013 to 2014 in Haiti, where he engaged in business development activities.
Education and Expertise
Sony Belizaire has a diverse educational background. He achieved a Licentiate degree in Science informatique from 2000 to 2004. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Ashwood University, completed between 2001 and 2005. He earned a Master of Arts in International Relations from Atlantic International University from 2018 to 2020. Additionally, he has obtained various certifications, including Esri Technical Certification for ArcGIS Desktop Professional and a Certificate in IT Essentials from Cisco Network Academy.
Achievements in ICT4D and Data Management
Throughout his career at Catholic Relief Services, Sony Belizaire has made significant contributions to ICT4D and data management. He has worked as a Data Management Officer and as a Data Management and GIS Specialist in various countries, including Haiti, Rwanda, and Nigeria. He has expertise in building Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) systems using platforms such as Iformbuilder, CommCare, DataWinners, and ODK. His work ensures that structures are in place to measure program impacts and progress, facilitating evidence-based decision-making.
Consultation Services and International Work
In addition to his role at CRS, Sony Belizaire offers consultation services both in Haiti and internationally. His expertise includes M&E ICT design, mobile data implementation, GIS field assessment, and ICT training. This allows him to contribute to various projects and initiatives beyond his primary responsibilities at CRS.
