About Rohit Borah, Mph

I am a public health data professional passionate about leveraging innovative technology to deliver high-level health outcomes to all populations, especially underrepresented ones. The intersection of social change and big data is work that I am particularly focused on driving forward. At the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), I work as a data scientist as part of the Division of Quality Improvement and Innovation Models within the Center of Clinical Standards and Quality, focusing on key pillars including rural / critical access hospitals, opioid prescription, and American Indian and Alaska Native health initiatives. Prior to CMS, I spent much of my career in data, from academia to medical device to startup and innovation. I worked at the UAB School of Public Health for several years, with multiple publications focused on research methodology and epidemiology, before moving to Global Resources International, where I managed multiple teams across supply chain and data to support company-wide initiatives before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Afterwards, I was part of the innovation team at Wellstar Health System, working on a variety of partnerships with teams across the health system to test and adopt new technologies. I was a Stanford d.school Innovation Fellow prior to my professional career, and I use those principles today to help drive innovation at CMS.
