Work at Change.org
Kajal Odedra has held multiple positions at Change.org since 2013. She currently serves as the Executive Director for the UK and as the Global Strategic Communications Director, roles she has occupied since 2017 and 2020, respectively. Prior to these positions, she worked as the Director of Campaigns, Communications & Engagement from 2017 to 2019 and as the Associate Director of Campaigns for a brief period in 2016. Her work at Change.org focuses on driving campaigns and strategic communications to engage the public and influence policy.
Current Roles and Fellowships
Kajal Odedra is actively involved in several organizations. Since 2021, she has been a Policy Fellow at CAPE - Capabilities in Academic-Policy Engagement, where she collaborates with academic institutions and engages with government offices. Additionally, she has been a Fellow at the German Marshall Fund since 2020. Odedra also serves on the Leadership Committee of Ada's List since 2016 and has been a Non-Executive Board Member at Save the Children UK since 2019.
Previous Experience
Before her current roles, Kajal Odedra gained extensive experience in various organizations. She worked at UK Youth Parliament as the Campaigns, Policy and Public Affairs Manager from 2007 to 2010. Her experience also includes roles at Macmillan Cancer Support as a Campaigns Officer, Crisis as Campaigns and Communications Officer, and Refugee Council as a Campaign Mentor. Additionally, she contributed to Channel 4 as a Campaign Mentor from 2008 to 2010.
Education and Expertise
Kajal Odedra holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in English from Loughborough University, where she studied from 2002 to 2005. She later pursued a Master's degree in Creative Writing at Goldsmiths, University of London, completing her studies from 2015 to 2017. Her educational background supports her expertise in strategic communications and campaign management.
Involvement in Research and Evidence Initiatives
Through her role in the CAPE Fellowship, Kajal Odedra is involved with the Alliance for Useful Evidence and the Transforming Evidence Hub. She collaborates with various academic institutions, including UCL, Cambridge, Manchester, Northumbria, and Nottingham, and engages with governmental scientific offices, enhancing her contributions to evidence-based policy-making.
