Jakande Raifu Lateef is currently serving as a Field HES Specialist at Chevron in Nigeria. His responsibilities include working as an HSE Field Specialist in the Sonam NWP field, Offshore. During his tenure, he was responsible for the development and review of various permit systems and supervision of safety officers for major projects such as CPG and STG units completion, and critical lifting operations for Meren GGCP & SONAM Jackets.
Education and Professional Certifications
Jakande Raifu Lateef earned his HND in Instrumentation & Control from the Petroleum Training Institute P.M.B 20 Effurun, Delta State between 2000 and 2005. He holds several professional certifications, including NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC), IOSH Managing Safely, and OSHAS 18001 (30 Hrs). These certifications underscore his expertise in health, safety, and environmental management.
Training and HSE Coordination
Lateef has an extensive background in training and HSE coordination. He has trained over 10,000 personnel for the Chevron GTL Project. He has also coordinated the fabrication activities and developed all fabrication slides for the EGTL project. In addition, he has overseen the safe completion of significant construction projects such as CPG, STG, and various utility and process units.

In his current role, Lateef provides operational HSE support for activities associated with permitting and day-to-day operations at the Chevron Abiteye NAG dredging site. He implements health, safety, and environment plans, programs, and procedures to maintain compliance with regulatory permits and policies. His duties include monitoring site activities to prevent and correct unsafe acts and conditions, conducting inspections and audits, and facilitating emergency drills and incident investigations using methodologies like 5-Why.
