Current Role at Wizards of the Coast
Meris Mullaley serves as the Worldbuilding & Narrative Design Manager at Wizards of the Coast, a position she has held since 2018. In this role, she manages the external story pipeline for Magic: The Gathering, ensuring the seamless integration of narrative elements into the game's universe. Her responsibilities include overseeing the development of storylines and collaborating with various teams to enhance the gaming experience through rich storytelling.
Previous Experience in Education and Outreach
Prior to her current role, Meris Mullaley worked as an Outreach Event Manager at the University of Washington - School of Medicine from 2016 to 2018. She also held the position of Gallery Programs Coordinator at the Museum of History & Industry from 2013 to 2016. Earlier in her career, she served as a Graduate Assistant at Portland State University from 2006 to 2008, where she contributed to academic programs and student engagement.
Background in Archaeology
Meris Mullaley has a strong background in archaeology, having worked as a Historical Archaeologist at ICF International from 2008 to 2012. She also gained experience as an Archaeological Laboratory Assistant and Field Technician at Fort Vancouver National Historic Site from 2006 to 2007. This foundation in archaeology has informed her transition into worldbuilding and narrative design, providing her with a unique perspective on storytelling.
Educational Qualifications
Meris Mullaley holds multiple degrees and certifications. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Classics (Honors) from Scripps College from 2001 to 2005. She then pursued a Master’s degree in Anthropology and Archaeology at Portland State University from 2006 to 2011. Additionally, she obtained a Certificate in Museum Studies from the University of Washington in 2013. More recently, she studied Digital Media Arts at Bellevue College, achieving her degree in 2017, and completed a program in Fashion/Apparel Design at New York Fashion Academy from 2017 to 2019.

Meris Mullaley co-founded the Wizards of Color resource group at Wizards of the Coast.
