About Geoffrey Israel

Geoffrey is the Senior Intellectual Property Conflicts Analyst at Cooley, LLP where he addresses patent prosecution matters with emphasis on compliance and risk management. In 2018, Geoffrey graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University earning a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and a minor in Science, Technology, & Law. During his time at Virginia Tech, he played an integral role in developing the Academy of Integrated Science by fostering the Student Intellectual Property Society to become the largest student organization of its kind. Geoffrey also served as an undergraduate mentor for the Department of Chemistry where he provided comprehensive program guidance across a myriad of classes. Following his time at Virginia Tech, Geoffrey joined Oppenheim + Zebrak, LLP as an Intellectual Property Specialist. Geoffrey handled matters ranging from IP portfolio management and data analysis to preparing legal documents and filing pleadings across multiple jurisdictions. Next, Geoffrey joined Cooley, LLP to manage their expansive IP practice where he investigates patent subject matter conflicts for new and existing clients. Originally from the Washington D.C. metropolitan area, Geoffrey was introduced to law at a young age. In high school, he completed college-accredited courses in both legal studies and chemistry. In college, he took an acute interest in IP law. Geoffrey take pride in his excellent oral and written communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, and his ability to ascertain results in a high-pressure environment. Geoffrey am someone with strong time management skills who multitasks well and can work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
