I've been hosting lunch/dinner gatherings my entire life as that's what I love to do, to bring people together!! Having organized hundreds of events, I have experienced how outdated the restaurant industry is in terms of customer service and understood the pain point of group dining from the customer perspective. We live in a world where one tap of a button on the phone and have a car to come pick you up. And yet at restaurant, we still need a pen & paper to figure out who ordered what, who owes how much, calculate the tip, AND also wait for the check! You've probably been through at least once this awkwardness of chasing after people to pay you for the dinner :( This lead myself to launch Cuculi in end of 2021, a Social Dining Platform with contactless ordering/payment/bill splitting function in order to change and improve the restaurant industry and overall dining experience. It simplifies the entire dining out process AND expand the option for people to connect! :) An important thing which encouraged us to persevere when we encountered obstacles and setbacks was the reaction of users when they used the app for the first time.
