Erik Daniels serves as the Security Controls Assessment Team Lead at Chrysallis.AI, Inc. since 2023. In this role, he oversees and manages 27 cyber intern project teams, ensuring effective execution of cybersecurity initiatives. He develops policies and procedures based on NIST-800 and CIS controls, and utilizes NIST SP 800-53A Rev. 5 for reviewing these policies as part of ongoing risk assessments. His responsibilities also include engaging in the creation of reports for management to communicate cybersecurity findings and participating in POA&M management and risk remediation.
Education and Certifications
Erik Daniels has a diverse educational background in cybersecurity and mathematics. He studied Cybersecurity at the University at Buffalo, earning a Certificate from 2022 to 2023. He also completed the Cybersecurity Essentials course at Cisco Networking Academy in 2023. Prior to his cybersecurity studies, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Buffalo State University. Additionally, he is enrolled in an on-the-job focused Cybersecurity program with the University of Buffalo.

Before transitioning to cybersecurity, Erik Daniels worked at GEICO as a Medical Claims Examiner from 2013 to 2021. During his eight years in this role, he gained significant experience in analyzing insurance claims to deter fraud and determine root causes. This background in customer service, medical claims, and insurance audits contributes to his comprehensive understanding of risk management in cybersecurity.

In his current role, Erik Daniels has completed hands-on labs using tools such as Burp Suite and OWASP Zap for vulnerability scanning and exploitation of vulnerabilities. He has also maintained evidentiary artifacts using the CIS Controls Self-assessment Tool (CSAT) and conducted analysis of vulnerability and log reviews across 270 systems to identify indicators of compromise.
