His varied commercial litigation practice includes representing some of the world’s largest companies in high-stakes competitor suits, including class actions, trade secret misappropriation claims, business disputes, founder disputes, breach of contract claims, unfair competition, copyrights, trademarks, TCPA, employment claims, securities fraud claims, investment disputes, SEC enforcement actions and investigations and white-collar crime. Strategic and tenacious, Blake is always willing to go to trial if called for (and has first- or second-chaired over 20 trials or arbitrations), but he also remains ever-mindful of his clients' business needs and seeks first to help his clients avoid, mitigate, and resolve their disputes. Blake has a strong track record for developing efficient and winning litigation strategies geared towards a client's practical business needs and for resolving matters through early-stage strategy, negotiation, settlement, mediation and/or arbitration. Blake has also dedicated significant time to pro bono representations in civil rights, unlawful detainer and domestic violence cases. His pro bono work has included first chairing a Section 1983 trial and oral argument before the California Court of Appeals. Before joining Dentons, Blake worked in the litigation departments at Greenspoon Marder, a national law firm, at Beverly Hills boutique Eisner LLP, and at international law firm Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP. In addition, prior to joining Orrick, Blake worked as a Deputy Public Defender in Orange County. In that capacity, Blake individually tried 12 misdemeanor cases, argued more than 25 motions, and managed an extensive case load by representing clients at pretrial conferences.
