About Eric Berlin

Cannabis Law Attorney at Dentons. I am one of the nation's leading cannabis law attorneys. I was the first lawyer from a large national firm to focus on cannabis law, and one of the few lawyers working full time for clients in or impacted by the state-legal cannabis industry and its tension with federal law. I lead Jones Day’s multi-office, multi-discipline cannabis law group to provide big firm resources cost effectively. I worked with members of state general assemblies and other stakeholders to help create the Illinois medical program (2009-2014) and to draft and help get passed the Ohio bill (2016). I speak frequently at seminars and to the press about cannabis legal and business issues. I also servesas a mentor for Greenhouse Ventures LLC, a business accelerator specific to ancillary startups in the cannabis industry. Additionally, I has two decades of trial and courtroom experience, particularly in litigation involving health care, antitrust law, and government investigations. I represented clients in some of the nation’s highest profile health care and antitrust litigations. Victories include: a trial in a $2.3 billion Sherman Act and the Robinson-Patman Act case; a False Claims Act case against major pharmacies; a bundling antitrust case against a large medical distributor; arbitrations involving the tobacco manufacturers national settlement with states; an international arbitration between agricultural companies; and appeals in the 6th, 7th, 9th, and 10th U.S. Courts of Appeals. Beyond my work to establish state legal medical cannabis programs, I am active in the community and civic affairs, particularly on health care and good government issues
