Mario has spent more than 30 years helping clients create estate plans aimed at preserving wealth. As a Director of the firm and a member of the Estates and Trusts Group, he specializes in estate planning and administration.Since 1986, Mario has focused his practice in estate planning, estate administration and probate court litigation. He has prepared estate plans ranging from basic dispositions to sophisticated plans involving substantial interests in closely held businesses. His experience includes the use of wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, charitable lead and remainder trusts, “defective” grantor trusts and private annuities. In addition, Mario has made use of family limited partnerships where indicated. He has administered estates of varying degrees of complexity from insolvent estates to multimillion dollar estates. His forte is the complex estate administration that requires tenacious involvement including preparation of tax returns. Mario has developed a niche in dealing with issues involving the federal generation-skipping transfer tax, including late and retroactive allocations of GST exemption.Mario’s probate litigation practice has expanded in the past 20+ years. He has successfully represented corporate and individual fiduciaries in such matters as accountings, surcharge and removal actions. He has extensive experience in document interpretation, reformations of governing instruments and fiduciary representation in tax controversies.
