Alessandro Bombardi serves as the I16 Principal Beamline Scientist at Diamond Light Source, a position he has held since 2021. In this role, he develops and maintains beamline equipment, software, and documentation. Prior to this, he worked at Diamond Light Source for 17 years as a Senior Scientist and Senior Beamline Scientist, from 2004 to 2021. His extensive experience in synchrotron science contributes to the operational efficiency and scientific output of the facility.
Education and Expertise
Alessandro Bombardi studied at Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II, where he earned a Laurea in Fisica from 1989 to 1996. He furthered his education at Université Grenoble Alpes, achieving a Doctorat en Physique. His academic background provides a strong foundation for his work in beamline science and synchrotron radiation. Additionally, he is a certified Feldenkrais practitioner, focusing on neuroplasticity and methods to alleviate stress and pain.
Current Role at University of Oxford
Since 2016, Alessandro Bombardi has been a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Oxford.
