Work at ECS

Michael Dougherty has been serving as the Agile Transformation Lead at ECS since 2021. Previous Experience

Prior to his current role at ECS, Dougherty held several positions in various organizations. He worked as the National Project Manager at Magenic from 2015 to 2019, and as an Enterprise Agile Coach at Agile Big Picture for a brief period in 2019. He also served as Director of Agile Practice at CGI from 2020 to 2021. His earlier roles include positions at AMEC, Syntellect, and SAIC, where he gained extensive experience in project management and software engineering.

Education and Expertise

Dougherty holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Systems Engineering from Arizona State University, which he completed from 1987 to 1992. He also earned an MBA in eCommerce from Jones International University between 2000 and 2003. His expertise spans a wide range of industries, including US Government, Banking and Financial Services, and Health Care. He specializes in coaching leadership for full transformations from waterfall to Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).

Coaching and Training Achievements

Michael Dougherty has taught over 1000 individuals in 10 different SAFe classes, achieving an average rating of over 4.3 out of 5. His coaching focuses on transitioning organizations from Project Management Offices (PMO) to Value Management Offices (VMO). He possesses a strong background in technologies such as Cloud services and Open Source Applications Development, which supports his training and coaching efforts.

Project Management and Budget Management

Dougherty has managed delivery budgets as large as $3 billion in high-pressure, multi-vendor environments. His extensive experience in project management includes roles as a Senior Project Manager and Project Management Consultant in various industries. He has a proven track record of driving large-scale transformational changes, particularly within the US Army and the Department of Homeland Security.
