Previous Experience at BAIF Institute for Sustainable Livelihoods & Development
Prior to his current role, Karyakarte worked at the BAIF Institute for Sustainable Livelihoods & Development as a Senior Project Officer from 2017 to 2021 in Pune. He also served as the Associate Thematic Programme Executive and head of the RS, GIS, and ICT department for six months in 2021-2022.
Educational Background
Karyakarte holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Savitribai Phule Pune University, where he studied Botany, Chemistry, and Zoology from 2004 to 2007. He also earned a Master of Science in Geoinformatics from the same university, ranking second in his class from 2007 to 2009. Additionally, he completed a Diploma in Glaciology at Háskóli Íslands in 2012.
Research and Consulting Experience
Karyakarte has extensive research experience, having worked as a Junior Research Fellow at the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology from 2009 to 2010 and as a Senior Research Fellow at the Indian Institute of Science from 2010 to 2015. He also worked as a Senior Consultant in Remote Sensing and GIS at Kanaka Management Services Private Limited for five months in 2022.
Collaborations and Projects
Throughout his career, Karyakarte has collaborated with various companies, including MRF, Hindware, and TVS, to conduct demographic analyses and site suitability assessments using ArcGIS Business Analyst. He has also worked with mining companies like Hindalco and Rungta Mines to implement ESRI GIS solutions for land management and developed interactive maps using ArcGIS integrated with Power BI.
