About Mary Katharine Guyton
Kate Guyton (Playwright) is an actress, published playwright, former caregiver, writer and editor who lives just south of Atlanta with her handsome husband, two dogs and a cat. She began her career as a journalist with her college newspaper, and later, with the Griffin Daily News. She studied acting in high school and began writing plays in her mid-20s while interning with Atlanta’s Horizon Theater. However, she stopped writing entirely after leaving Griffin Daily News in 2005 to work with the elderly as well as to care for her grandparents. She only began writing again in 2013 with her husband’s encouragement. “Talley O’Malley, the Unlucky Leprechaun” was her first finished play, published through Heuer Publishing. To date she has 5 finished plays, including “Ghosts in the Field” and is working on several others. She has attended the Last Frontier Theater Conference, performed in the Atlanta Fringe Festival, and been a member of Working Title Playwrights. Since her grandfather passed away and she left her job at Castle Rock Honey to pursue her writing career, she spends her time working with OnStage Atlanta as a member of their Art Company as well as performing in and writing for local, Atlanta theaters. She is currently contracted with phoneBlogger, an internet-based content building service. She continues her writing and is looking to re-enter the work force full-time.
