Work at Enerkem
Sahil Goyal has been employed at Enerkem as a Chemical Lab Tech since 2018. In this role, he conducts various analyses, including measuring H2S concentration and performing pHe and acidity tests on final ethanol products. He is responsible for handling cyanide, ammonia, electrical conductivity, ORP, and pH analysis using HACH DR 1900, MM150, and DR900 equipment. Goyal samples water, soil, char, methanol, and ethanol directly from the plant and coordinates with plant operators to prioritize rush samples during operations.
Previous Experience in Chemical Technology
Before joining Enerkem, Sahil Goyal worked at AGAT Laboratories as a Chemical Technician from 2013 for 11 months. He also served as an Analyst 1 at Maxxam Analytics from 2016 to 2017 and as a Chemical Technician at SUEZ from 2014 to 2016. His responsibilities included ordering and receiving lab equipment, reviewing and modifying Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and sending samples to external labs for further testing.
Education and Expertise
Sahil Goyal studied at Sheridan College, where he earned an Associate’s Degree in Chemical Technology/Technician from 2010 to 2012. His education provided him with foundational knowledge and skills relevant to his career in chemical analysis and laboratory technology. He is proficient in the calibration and maintenance of Agilent and Scion GC equipment and performs BTEX analysis using the Frog analyzer.
Technical Skills and Responsibilities
In his current role and previous positions, Sahil Goyal has developed a range of technical skills. He is adept at determining specific gravity and density using DM45 and Anton Par DMA35N meters. He also handles non-conformance issues by segregating non-conformance and reporting Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
