Venkat Nadadoor has been employed at Enerkem as an Operations Engineer since 2019. In this role, he focuses on optimizing operational processes and enhancing plant efficiency. His responsibilities include developing and modifying P&IDs, SOPs, datasheets, and isometrics for Management of Change (MOCs). He collaborates with contractors, vendors, maintenance, operators, and construction departments to ensure the efficient completion of MOCs. Additionally, he has worked on commissioning new projects, such as rerouting a caustic line and installing a new reboiler for the NBTX system.

Venkat Nadadoor earned a Bachelor of Technology in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, from 2001 to 2005. He furthered his education at the University of Alberta, where he obtained a PhD in Process Control between 2005 and 2011. His expertise includes designing and programming safety instrumented functions (SIFs) and establishing communication between various PLCs and equipment using Ethernet, DeviceNet, ProfiNet, and RS-232. He has over 12 years of experience working with MATLAB/Simulink for modeling chemical systems.

Background

Before joining Enerkem, Venkat Nadadoor held various positions in academia and industry. He worked at the University of Alberta as a Research Assistant from 2005 to 2011 and as a Post Doctoral Fellow for a brief period in 2011. He also served as a Teaching Assistant at the same university from 2005 to 2008. His industry experience includes roles as a Process Control Engineer and Area Supervisor at Evraz Inc NA in Calgary from 2012 to 2014, and as a Consultant at Matrikon from 2007 to 2008. He also worked as a Food Services Aide at Alberta Health Services in 2011-2012.
