Previous Experience in Legal Tech
Before joining Epiq, Stefanie Santana worked at LegalForce, Inc. as the Practice Development Lead from 2019 to 2021 in Tokyo, Japan. During her tenure, she initiated the English practice and led the English Data Analysis team at the company, which is recognized as a leading legal tech firm in Japan. Her experience also includes an internship at DLA Piper in Thailand in 2015.
Education and Qualifications
Stefanie Santana holds a Double Degree in Civil Law and Common Law (Juris Doctor) from McGill University, which she completed from 2014 to 2018. She also studied Finance and International Business, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from HEC Montréal. Additionally, she completed a Legal Tech Essentials program at Bucerius Law School in 2020.
Involvement in Legal Innovation
Stefanie Santana is a co-founder and head of the Legaltech Incubator LatAm at ALIL - LATAM, established in 2020. This initiative marks the first legal innovation association in Hispanic Latin America. She has also participated in various podcasts, including Smart Lawyers in Ecuador and CryptoLegal in Peru, contributing to discussions on legal technology.
Academic Contributions and Speaking Engagements
Since 2021, Stefanie Santana has been a lecturer at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso. She has shared her expertise as a speaker at several prestigious events, including Stanford University's CODEX and the LegalForce National Legaltech Conference, which is the largest legal tech gathering in Japan, attracting over 3,800 attendees.
