About Samira Daneshgar Asl, PhD
Remote Sensing Scientist with 10+ years experience in Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and optical remote sensing, image processing, automatic feature extraction, GIS, cryo-hydrologic remote sensing, oil spill remote sensing, and numerical modeling of oil slicks as a function of air-sea interaction. Investigator of the NSF funded project ICEBERG (Imagery Cyber-infrastructure and Extensible Building blocks to Enhance Research in the Geosciences). Developed an open source pipeline to classify supraglacial hydrological features on Arctic glaciers particularly the Greenland Ice Sheet utilizing high-resolution WorldView imagery and Deep Learning techniques. Published 6 papers in top-tier journals such as Remote Sensing of Environment. Currently, I am seeking a position that will allow me to further develop my skills in applications of remote sensing in other environmental studies.
