Ricardo began his career at PDVSA Petroleos de Venezuela S.A. as a Junior Engineer in 2002, where he worked for eight months at the Puerto La Cruz Refinery. He subsequently took on the role of Process Safety Engineer at Tecnoconsult Group in Puerto La Cruz, Venezuela, for one year from 2003 to 2004. In 2007, he joined Amec Foster Wheeler as a Process Engineer, working in this role for two years before being promoted to Principal Process Engineer, a position he held from 2009 to 2016 in the Houston, Texas Area. Ricardo has been with ExxonMobil as a Project Manager since 2016.
Education and Expertise
Ricardo Ramirez completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering at Universidad Metropolitana (VE) from 1997 to 2002. He furthered his education by obtaining a Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering from Bradley University, where he studied from 2005 to 2006.
Industry Experience and Projects
Throughout his career, Ricardo has gained significant experience by executing several Process Design Packages (PDPs) and supporting Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) design activities. He has participated in HAZOP studies and efficiently resolved action items for grassroots and revamp projects. He has conducted hydraulic reviews, PFD and P&ID reviews, vendor drawing reviews, 3D model reviews, and utility balances. Additionally, Ricardo has developed scope definitions for engineering services and prepared schedules for process deliverables.

Ricardo has developed a thorough understanding of ExxonMobil’s work processes and project systems (EMCAPS). He is well-versed in design and global practices (DPs and GPs), which are integral to his role as Project Manager at ExxonMobil.
