About Charles B.
Company builder with 15+ years of experience building and leading operations and product teams from 0 to 1 and 1 to scale across healthcare, fintech, information services and consumer purchased goods. I help companies shape ambiguous problems and then improve operational processes and apply technology to drive scale and improve efficiency. I’m someone who is hard to pin on a single persona. From my youth, my interests in building software, neuroscience, and student government didn’t pair with being an accomplished football player who played at Harvard. Today, that manifests as someone who has scaled ops functions, driven sizable gross margin improvements, and ramped up new growth channels while also shipping numerous B2C, B2B and business process software applications in product and engineering roles. I enjoy taking on hard problems, rapidly getting smart on sticky domains (including fine details of healthcare, fintech, and employment regulations), and most importantly shipping value to customers. On my work history: My ability to see operational problems with a technical lens has been refined at Forward as we scaled from 2 clinics locations to an innovative nationwide healthcare offering. At ApplePie Capital, I led platform development of a double sided marketplace as we enabled over $200 million in debt capital to be deployed. I founded ThreePound with a vision of making wearable technology accessible to all through approachable use cases, shipping 3 wellness apps targeting consumer EEG, smartwatches, and smartphones. At PerkStreet Financial, I was early to what is now defined as growth, building out systems to convert our hundreds of thousands of leads to active users. Early experience in strategy consulting at OC&C Strategy Consultants and The Lucas Group help hone my strategic and analytical base and an intuition for M&A. At my core, I enjoy building, whether it is building strategy, teams, processes, apps or metrics, but also building new relationships, whether across the company or with customers and vendors. I’m a team player who just wants to make the world a little better with what little time we have, and have some fun while we’re at it.
