Joey Aoun has a comprehensive educational background in architecture and sustainability. He achieved a Master of Architecture (MArch) from Lebanese University - Faculty of Engineering III from 2009 to 2014. He furthered his studies with a Postgraduate Diploma in Green Technologies at the American University of Beirut from 2015 to 2016. Aoun obtained a Master of Science in Urban Energy with a focus on Sustainable Buildings and Environment from Newcastle University from 2017 to 2018. He also completed the RIBA Part 3 - Advanced Diploma of Professional Practice in Architecture at the University of Chester from 2020 to 2021.
Background
Joey Aoun began his career as an Assistant Architect at JWH Architects in Beirut District, Lebanon, where he worked from 2011 to 2012. His early experiences laid the foundation for his later focus on sustainable design and energy efficiency. He has since transitioned into academia, currently serving as a Guest Lecturer at Newcastle University since 2021.
Achievements
Joey Aoun has received several recognitions for his contributions to sustainable architecture. He won the 2020 Ken Dale Travel Bursary for his research on sustainable building practices and conducted research on Net-Zero Retrofit in the European Context. He was also a Highly Commended recipient in the Rising Star category at the Newcastle University Alumni Achievement 2021 Awards. Additionally, he was the 1st runner-up for the CIBSE Young Engineers Awards 2020 in the Graduate of the Year category.
