Before joining FranklinCovey, Joy Harvell worked at Jhana (later acquired by FranklinCovey) as a Researcher, Data and Product/Service Analytics from 2015 to 2017. Her responsibilities included data analysis and applying research to improve product and service offerings. Joy Harvell holds a Master of Arts in Sociology from The University of Akron, where she studied from 2010 to 2012. Prior to that, she achieved a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, summa cum laude, from Lakeland University in 2010. During her academic career, she worked as a Research Assistant and Sociology Instructor at The University of Akron and as a Writing Tutor at Lakeland College. She also served as the Social Chair for Alpha Kappa Delta International Honor Society of Sociology.

In 2016, Joy Harvell participated in the Annual AAPOR Conference's Usability Testing for Survey Research Workshop.
