Professional Experience at FranklinCovey
Joy Harvell has been with FranklinCovey since 2017, initially joining as a User Experience Researcher. In 2018, she was promoted to Lead UX Researcher and Strategist. Her role involves conducting comprehensive user research, producing actionable insights that inform product development, and collaborating with leadership to improve research methods. She has also established performance and user satisfaction baselines for existing FranklinCovey products to guide future development efforts.
Previous Roles at FranklinCovey and Jhana
Before joining FranklinCovey, Joy Harvell worked at Jhana (later acquired by FranklinCovey) as a Researcher, Data and Product/Service Analytics from 2015 to 2017. Her responsibilities included data analysis and applying research to improve product and service offerings. This role prepared her for her subsequent transition to FranklinCovey, where she has continued to excel in UX research.
Academic Background and Early Career
Joy Harvell holds a Master of Arts in Sociology from The University of Akron, where she studied from 2010 to 2012. Prior to that, she achieved a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, summa cum laude, from Lakeland University in 2010. During her academic career, she worked as a Research Assistant and Sociology Instructor at The University of Akron and as a Writing Tutor at Lakeland College. She also served as the Social Chair for Alpha Kappa Delta International Honor Society of Sociology.
Professional Trainings and Workshops
In 2016, Joy Harvell participated in the Annual AAPOR Conference's Usability Testing for Survey Research Workshop. This professional development experience extended over 11 months, enhancing her skills in usability testing and survey research. This training supports her current responsibilities where usability testing and user satisfaction assessments are crucial elements of her role.
