Prior to joining General Mills, Ying Fan accumulated extensive experience at the University of Florida. Additionally, Fan worked as a Research Assistant, Teaching Assistant, and University Tutor over a span of five years. Fan also had a brief supervisory role in teaching and was an Exchange Student in 2014.
Educational Background
Ying Fan holds a Ph.D. in Food Science with a minor in Food Resource & Economics from the University of Florida, completed in 2020. Fan also earned a Master's Degree in Food Science and Human Nutrition from the same institution in 2016. Prior to that, Fan obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology/Biological Sciences from Huazhong Agricultural University in 2014.
Research and Technical Skills
During Ph.D. research, Ying Fan developed new quality sensory and analytical methods using GC-MS and colorimetric devices to enhance decision-making on seafood quality. Fan is skilled in operating and troubleshooting various analytical instruments such as GC-FID, GC-MS, and HPLC. This technical expertise supports Fan’s contributions to food product development.
Personal Interests
Beyond professional responsibilities, Ying Fan is passionate about food product development and enjoys experimenting with new recipes. Fan also has a keen interest in both dogs and cats, reflecting a well-rounded personal life outside of work.
