About Marc Syp

I am a strategist, designer, and a coder, with a background in architecture and software startups. I have a Masters in Architecture and I am the firmwide leader of computational technologies at Gensler. Previously, I led the design computation practice for NBBJ, a large global architecture firm. I worked for a year with a Google X team at the Venture-backed Flux Factory startup to guide the initial product direction of their web-based AEC technology. In my return to architecture, I have led the development of mobile apps, IoT projects, augmented reality, computational products, and other tools to make the design process more valuable and effective. I lead the implementation of software engineering and product management practices for our talented design computation team, which is thriving and accelerating with new lean process, communication, and UX thinking for the design tools we build. I usually have an app or coding side project to keep me fresh. I have American and EU citizenship and speak fluent English, capable French, and rudimentary Italian. A few of my specialties: Computational Design, Data Visualization, Product Management, UI/UX Prototyping, Web/Cross-Platform Mobile Development, Karaoke, Pitching to C-Suite/Execs, Interactive Environments, Strategy, Film/Video/Photography
