About Jim Conant, PhD
Jim is currently knee deep analyzing the mathematics of diamonds for GIA, where he works remotely as a research mathematician and algorithm engineer. He also teaches a couple of classes for AoPS Academy in San Diego, where he served as director for almost 5 years. Previously he was a tenured professor at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, having published many papers in pure mathematics in top journals. Jim was a visiting professor at UCSD as well. In his free time, Jim likes to go hiking, solve math puzzles, and watch restoration videos on YouTube.
