Thierry Abaléa serves as the Vice President of Engineering at GitGuardian since 2023. In this role, he has developed a Continuous Delivery strategy that streamlines deployment processes. He reorganized the engineering team into four tribes, which include 17 specialized squads. Under his leadership, the engineering team expanded from 55 to 80 professionals within nine months. He also manages vendor relationships with infrastructure providers such as AWS and OVH, and monitors key productivity KPIs, focusing on application performance and development lead time.

Before joining GitGuardian, Thierry held several significant positions in various organizations. He worked as an Engineering Manager at Aircall from 2020 to 2021 and served as Head of Engineering at Alma from 2021 to 2022. Prior to that, he was the Chief Technical Officer at crème de la crème from 2018 to 2019. He also held multiple roles at Societe Generale Corporate and Investment Banking, including Technical Leader and Software Engineer, from 2008 to 2015. His experience in these roles contributed to his expertise in engineering management.
Education and Expertise
Thierry Abaléa studied at ENIB, where he earned a Diplôme d'ingénieur in Ingénierie informatique from 1995 to 2001. He furthered his education by completing a MOOC in Algorithms Analysis & Design at Stanford University in 2013. His technical proficiency includes a strong command of AWS, Python, React, TypeScript, and ElasticSearch clusters. This educational background and technical expertise have equipped him to lead engineering teams effectively.

Thierry's career spans over two decades, starting as a Software Engineer at Atos from 2001 to 2007. He then worked at Societe Generale Corporate and Investment Banking in various capacities, including Technical Leader and Software Engineer, until 2015. Following his tenure at Societe Generale, he joined Degetel as a Software Engineer from 2008 to 2011. His diverse experience across multiple organizations has contributed to his growth as a leader in engineering.
