Currently, Astrid Lozano serves as a Project Manager and Standards Specialist at the Government of Canada. Previous Experience in Telecommunications
Astrid Lozano has extensive experience in the telecommunications sector. She worked at Nortel Networks as a Standards Advisor for Optical Networks from 1999 to 2006, where she focused on developing industry standards. Prior to that, she was employed at Siemens as a Telecommunications Engineer in Bogota, Colombia, from 1995 to 1998. Additionally, she briefly worked at Industry Canada as a Senior Engineer in Telecommunications-New Technologies in 2007.

Astrid Lozano earned her Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas. Her educational background provides a strong foundation for her work in project management and standards development, particularly in the fields of telecommunications and environmental sustainability.
Achievements in Standards Development
Throughout her career, Astrid Lozano has made significant contributions to standards development. She developed and implemented agreements with Natural Resources Canada, Environment Canada, and the Canadian Fuels Association to establish standards for biofuels. She coordinated Canada's contributions to ISO committees, including ISO 20400 for Sustainable Procurement and ISO 8124 for the Safety of Toys. In 2011, she received the Acquisitions Sector team award for leading the review of over 40 standards.
International Collaboration and Workshops
Astrid Lozano has engaged in international collaboration to enhance standards. She led the organization of over 40 committee meetings to build consensus on standards. In 2014, she developed and delivered a three-day workshop in Costa Rica, which resulted in the accreditation of the Costa Rica Standards Organization (INTECO) by ISO. Additionally, she collaborated with ASTM on flammability standards for tents and test methods for petroleum fuels used in Canada and the USA.
