Isabella Brisson Urdaneta has served as Press Secretary to the Minister of Middle Class Prosperity and Associate Minister of Finance since 2020. In this role, she has developed and implemented both long-term and short-term communications strategies for the Ministerial office. She acts as the main point of contact for international, national, and regional media, maintaining a database of media contacts and fostering relationships with journalists and producers across Canada. Additionally, she drafts and approves media responses, news releases, and backgrounders in both French and English.

Prior to her current position, Isabella Brisson Urdaneta held various roles in communications and public relations. She worked as Press Secretary to the Minister of International Trade Diversification at Global Affairs Canada from 2018 to 2019. Before that, she was a Senior Field Organizer for the Liberal Party of Canada from 2016 to 2018. Her earlier experience includes positions at CN as an Internal Communications Consultant, and at Public Outreach Fundraising as Communications & Special Projects Coordinator.
Education and Expertise
Isabella Brisson Urdaneta has a diverse educational background. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in International/Global Studies from Université de Montréal from 2009 to 2013. She also holds a Graduate Diploma in Public Relations and Communications Management from McGill University, completed from 2014 to 2016. Additionally, she studied Fine Arts at Dawson College, achieving a College diploma from 2006 to 2008. Her studies included a student exchange program in International Relations at Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, Spain, in 2011.

Isabella Brisson Urdaneta began her career in communications with roles that included Technical Support Representative at Chambre immobilière du Grand Montréal and Fundraising Verification Mandate at Oxfam-Québec. She also gained experience as a Communications Intern at GoodnessTV and worked at PharmaCommunications Group Inc. as Client Assistance. These early positions contributed to her skills in communication and public relations.
