Robert C. Garrett is CEO of Hackensack Meridian Health, New Jersey's largest and most comprehensive health network with 17 hospitals, 500 patient care locations, 35,000 team members and 7,000 physicians. Under Mr. Garrett's leadership, the network merged with Carrier Clinic, New Jersey's largest behavioral health provider, established a collaboration with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City and opened Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine at Seton Hall University, New Jersey's first private medical school in decades. Mr. Garrett launched his career at Hackensack University Medical Center in 1981 and served as president and CEO of the Hackensack University Health Network from November 2009 through July 2016. The 2016 merger of Hackensack University Health Network and Meridian Health created Hackensack Meridian Health. The network also created the Center for Discovery and Innovation, which attracts leading researchers from around the globe who are advancing our knowledge of cancer, infectious disease, chronic illness and regenerative medicine. In 2019, the network's John Theurer Cancer Center was approved as a member of the NCI-designated Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center Consortium. The network's notable distinctions include having 3 hospitals in the top 10 in New Jersey as ranked by U.S. News & World Report and inclusion in Becker Hospital Review's Top 150 Places to Work in Healthcare 2018.
