About Deep Biswas
I am particularly interested in development supply-chain work & urbanisation; start-ups/social enterprises. Born to immigrants, I am a Bilingual individual in English and Bengali who is a British National, and possesses an Indian Overseas Citizenship (status allowing me to work and live in India visa-free). As well as holding an MPhil in Development Studies, one which has qualified me for opportunities of PhD/DPhil study (at the University of Cambridge & elsewhere), I am currently a full-time MBA candidate at Harvard Business School, the graduate Business School of Harvard University. I have spent the majority of the the last 5 years accumulating Development Economics/Diplomacy/Management experience working in prominent government departments: UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), The Department for International Development (DFID), and the merged Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). My roles included being a lead on International Trade (WTO), Development Finance (IBRD at World Bank), Aid Programming, and interacting regularly with C-level staff to business plan a newly formed UK Government institution. My country-experience includes Uganda, Nigeria, Tunisia, Sudan and as a Development Diplomat in Tanzania. I also took a 3-month opportunity in the private sector working for the leading international development strategy consultancy - Dalberg in Geneva, Switzerland. In the summer of 2020, I learnt to code and build simple web applications. In my spare time, I like to tutor, learn language and invest.
