About Emily A. Chien
Emily is a Senior Fellow at Harvard University, specializing in climate finance, the net zero transition, AI and commercialization of new climate solutions and markets. She serves on the IFRS Foundation's Advisory Council which advises the ISSB and IASB standards setting bodies for international sustainability reporting and accounting. Emily has been IBM Global Climate Offerings and Partnerships Leader, earlier led AI-empowered business transformations with global banking, investment management, private equity and insurance Fortune 100 IBM clients, and served as AI Fellow focused on the Responsible Use of AI at the World Economic Forum. Emily is founding co-chair of the 100 Women in Finance (100WF) C-suite ESG Peer Advisory Group and was a Chair for the 2023 Impact Investing Symposium. She is an Advisory Board Member of the Harvard Data Science Initiative, and served as Senior Editor for the Harvard Social Impact Review. Emily’s expertise draws on 25+ years as a senior executive at JP Morgan Chase, Prudential, Fidelity Investments, American Express and Booz where she built, scaled and ran industry-leading solutions, platforms and businesses working at the intersection of business, technology and partnerships. Emily is a former CPA and auditor, is a member of the Economic Club of New York, 100 WF (Global Angel), Board Director of the Southampton Fresh Air Home. She holds a BS and MAS in Accountancy and AI from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. She pioneered patented digital capabilities now used by Amazon.com and has published with the Harvard Business School and spoken at the Harvard Kennedy School and Princeton University.
