Alexandra Hilkene serves as the Press Secretary to the Deputy Premier and Minister of Health at the Ontario Ministry of Health. She has held this position since 2020. In this role, she is responsible for managing communications and media relations for the Deputy Premier, ensuring that information is effectively disseminated to the public and stakeholders.
Previous Experience in Communications
Prior to her current role, Hilkene worked as a Communications Advisor to the Deputy Premier and Minister of Health from 2018 to 2020. In this capacity, she focused on strategic communication initiatives. Additionally, she has held various internships that provided her with experience in communications, including roles at the Ontario Chamber of Commerce and Ryerson University.
Educational Background at McGill University
Hilkene studied at McGill University, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in English Language and Literature from 2014 to 2018. This academic background has equipped her with strong communication and analytical skills, which are essential in her current role in public health communications.
Internship Experience
Throughout her career, Hilkene has gained valuable experience through various internships. She worked as a Communications Intern at the Mayor's Office City Hall in Toronto for two months in 2017, and as an Intern at Navigator Ltd. for three months in 2015. Additionally, she served as an Event Staff member at the Clean Water Foundation in 2014 and as a Government Relations and Policy Intern at the Ontario Chamber of Commerce in 2018.
