He furthered his education with a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Economics from the University of Toronto, which he completed in 2000. Additionally, he participated in the Public Leadership Development Program at Ivey Business School at Western University, which he attended from 2019.

From 2012 to 2016, Mehul Mehta worked at the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities as the Manager of the Universities Finance Unit. In this role, he focused on financial management and policy development for universities across Ontario, contributing to the financial sustainability of higher education institutions.
