Her tenure at Diabetes Canada as A/Senior Manager/Coordinator Programs, Services, and Partnerships from 2013 to 2015 allowed her to manage significant health initiatives in Vancouver, BC. Additionally, her role as a Program Planning Intern at Health Canada in 2012 provided her with valuable insights into e-health initiatives for First Nations.

Educational Background in Health and Biology

Sharon Hon earned her Masters of Public Health from the University of Saskatchewan, where she focused on health promotion and public health. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in General Biology from The University of British Columbia. Furthermore, she completed a Certificate in Human Resources Management from the British Columbia Institute of Technology. This educational foundation has equipped her with the necessary skills to navigate complex health systems and contribute effectively to public health initiatives.

Leadership in Diversity and Inclusion Initiatives

In her current position, Sharon Hon has led the development and implementation of a diversity and inclusion action plan within the Ontario Ministry of Health. This initiative reflects her commitment to fostering an inclusive environment in health services. Her strategic advice on policy and program development has also included preparing submission materials and briefings for various governmental committees, demonstrating her capacity to influence health policy at a high level.

Sharon Hon has held several administrative roles that have supported her career in health. She worked as a Senior Administrative Assistant at BC Hydro from 2008 to 2010 and as a Lead Administrative Assistant at Grace Physiotherapy from 2006 to 2007. Additionally, her research experience includes a position as a Research Assistant for a Nutrition and Food Security Baseline Survey in Rwanda in 2010.
