Rakesh Patwari studied at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India from 2001 to 2004, where he completed his studies in chartered accountancy. He also holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from St. Xavier's College, which he attended from 2000 to 2003.

Before joining HSBC, Rakesh Patwari worked at Citi as a Manager from 2003 to 2005 and at PwC as an Auditor from 2001 to 2003. He also gained experience as a Summer Trainee at PepsiCo in 2001. His diverse background in finance and auditing has contributed to his expertise in corporate banking and trade finance.
