About Chris Johnson
I'm a Machine Learning and AI researcher, engineer, and product leader who is driven by challenging problems at the intersection of AI, software engineering, and human interaction, and building cross-functional, data-driven teams to solve them. My passion is to leverage data and AI to craft immersive, personalized experiences that enhance people's lives. Ultimately, I am inspired by people and the opportunity to further humanity. My career over the past 18+ years has spanned industries including job search, music streaming, and shopping, though my primary area of focus has remained leveraging data and AI to deliver deeply personalized experiences. More recently, I have become especially interested in Large Language Models (LLMs) and Multimodal Models, particularly within the space of building personalized AI assistants to improve the lives of individuals across diverse professional and social spheres. I hold an MS in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin, have published research papers at top tier conferences including NeurIPs, RecSys, and AISTATS, and give talks at related research, engineering, and product venues from time to time.
