About David Hanekamp
Experienced software engineer with the ability to work on high level architecture and system designs as well as low level implementation. I have held various roles within software development such as architect, requirements/system analyst, developer, and team lead. In the past, I was an instructor in Carnegie Mellon's distance education program for the graduate level software engineering courses Models of Software Systems and Architectures of Software Systems. My specialty is understanding complex systems with all their detailed nuances, designing solutions for these systems, and guiding a team to implement a solution. For the last 10 years I have been working on systems related to government compliance (income tax and transportation regulations). I am equally comfortable working with engineers, product managers, or users. Usually I am the one that understands the big picture of how it all comes together as well as how it provides value to users. I am often in Tokyo, Japan and interested in connecting with software engineers there.
