She then obtained a Master of Science in Computer Science from Ecole normale supérieure, studying from 1996 to 1999, followed by another Master’s in Computer Science from 1996 to 1998. She completed her PhD in Databases and Distributed Query Optimization at UVSQ Université de Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines from 1998 to 2001. Her expertise includes computational fact-checking and data journalism.

Current Academic Role

Since 2016, Ioana Manolescu has also been a part-time professor at École Polytechnique in Palaiseau, Île-de-France, France. In this role, she contributes to the academic community by sharing her knowledge and expertise in computer science and data management with students and colleagues.

Previous Positions

Prior to her current roles, Ioana Manolescu worked at Inria as the Team Leader of the OAK team from 2012 to 2015. She also served as a research consultant and post-doctoral researcher at Politecnico di Milano for five months in 2002. Additionally, she was a member of the XQuery Working Group at W3C from 2005 to 2006, where she contributed to the development of standards in XML query languages.
