About Julien Vanharen

Julien Vanharen is a Post Doctoral researcher at Inria, specializing in time-accurate anisotropic mesh adaptation for fluid-structure interaction simulations. He has a background in computational fluid dynamics, having previously worked at CERFACS and Airbus in various engineering roles.

Work at Inria

Julien Vanharen has been working at Inria as a Post-Doctoral researcher since 2017. His role involves advanced research in fluid dynamics simulations, particularly focusing on time-accurate anisotropic mesh adaptation for fluid-structure interaction simulations. Based in Palaiseau, Île-de-France, France, he contributes to the development of computational fluid dynamics methodologies and applications.

Previous Experience at CERFACS

Julien Vanharen worked at CERFACS in the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) team on two occasions. He completed a five-month internship in 2013 and a two-month position as a study engineer in 2014. Both roles were based in the Région de Toulouse, France, where he gained practical experience in CFD methodologies.

Experience at Airbus

Julien Vanharen has held multiple positions at Airbus. He served as a PhD student from 2014 to 2017, working closely with CERFACS. Prior to that, he completed two internships in the Aerodynamics department, one lasting ten months from 2011 to 2012 and another for two months in 2012. These experiences contributed to his expertise in aerodynamics and fluid dynamics.

Education and Expertise

Julien Vanharen studied at ISAE - Supaéro, where he achieved a Diplôme d'ingénieur in Ingénierie from 2009 to 2013. He also attended Lycée Faidherbe, completing a PCSI - PC* program from 2007 to 2009. His educational background laid the foundation for his specialization in computational fluid dynamics and mesh adaptation techniques.
