In this capacity, he led ethics programs across multiple hospitals and fostered a community of ethics consultants and committees. His previous experience also includes serving as an Ethics Fellow at Bon Secours from 2013 to 2016, where he focused on ethical practices in healthcare.
Academic Background and Qualifications
Nicholas Setliff has an extensive academic background in philosophy and business administration. He earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Philosophy from Saint Louis University, where he studied from 2008 to 2017. He also holds a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy from Texas A&M University, completed between 2005 and 2008. Earlier, he studied Business Administration and Management at Southwestern University from 2003 to 2005. Additionally, he completed a Healthcare Ethics Consultant certification from the American Society for Bioethics and Humanities in 2018.
Teaching Experience
In addition to his roles in healthcare ethics, Nicholas Setliff has been an instructor at Bon Secours Memorial College of Nursing since 2014. His teaching experience spans nearly a decade, during which he has contributed to the education of nursing students in Richmond, Virginia. He previously served as a Graduate Instructor at Saint Louis University from 2009 to 2013, where he taught philosophy courses.
Leadership in Ethics Programs
Nicholas Setliff has demonstrated leadership in ethics by leading programs at seventeen hospitals across three states as the Providence Group Ethics Lead.
