He earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Philosophy from Saint Louis University, where he studied from 2008 to 2017. He also holds a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy from Texas A&M University, completed between 2005 and 2008. Earlier, he studied Business Administration and Management at Southwestern University from 2003 to 2005. Additionally, he completed a Healthcare Ethics Consultant certification from the American Society for Bioethics and Humanities in 2018.

In addition to his roles in healthcare ethics, Nicholas Setliff has been an instructor at Bon Secours Memorial College of Nursing since 2014. His teaching experience spans nearly a decade, during which he has contributed to the education of nursing students in Richmond, Virginia.
