Sean Firth currently holds multiple positions at Intermountain Healthcare. He serves as the Biorepository Research Services Director, a role he has occupied since 2019. In addition, he has been the Scientific Lead for Clinical Outcomes Analysis since 2014. His work focuses on enhancing research capabilities and improving clinical outcomes through data analysis and biorepository services. He also worked as a Biorepository Research Manager from 2018, contributing to the organization’s research infrastructure in the Greater Salt Lake City Area.
Education and Expertise
Sean Firth has an extensive educational background in epidemiology and public health. He earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Epidemiology from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, completing his studies from 1998 to 2004. He also holds a Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) from the University of Utah School of Medicine, where he studied from 1996 to 1998. Additionally, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in German and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Psychology from the University of Utah, both completed in 1996. His expertise includes interventional and observational study design, biostatistical design, pharmacology, and toxicology.
Background
Before joining Intermountain Healthcare, Sean Firth worked at the University of Utah Department of Pediatrics as a Perinatal Pharmacoepidemiologist and Assistant Professor from 2003 to 2014. He served as the Project Director for the National Children's Study, which involved coordinating research across multiple counties in Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming. He also contributed as an Epidemiologist Analyst for the National Birth Defects Prevention Study at the Utah Birth Defects Center. Earlier in his career, he worked as an Associate Biostatistician at PPD from 2002 to 2003.

Sean Firth has played a significant role in various research initiatives. He was the Co-Principal Investigator and Project Director for the National Children's Study, which aimed to understand the effects of environmental factors on children's health. His work in epidemiology has contributed to advancements in public health research, particularly in the areas of pharmacology and toxicology.
