Extensive sourcing and executing investment capabilities in the TMT/Digital Infrastructure space gained through 25+ years covering TMT in emerging markets. Leveraged over $25bn. investments throughout career. Deep C-Level and senior government relationships and understanding of the investment opportunities and challenges in a number of verticals (TowerCos, Cloud Infrastructure / Data Centers, FiberCos, Subsea cables, MNOs, Wholesale and Retail broadband business models, Satellite, Rural Connectivity etc.) Thought leadership in the extended Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sectors having led World Bank studies of the sectors including on Digital Economy. Description I lead a new team at IFC supporting early project development and principal financing in the Telecom, Media and Technology sector globally. Recruited a global team of more than 15 investment professionals / TMT experts, developed the strategy and operational plan, leveraged a global network of experts and professionals, developed investment business with leading TMT players globally to identify, originate and develop investable opportunities. Designed and launched ten new TMT platforms, to develop cutting-edge global analytics, de-risk investments, and bring investable opportunities to bankability. These platforms are: 1) Energy Solutions (ESCO) for Telecom Anchor Clients (1 investment committed, 3 under review); 2) Scaling Rural Connectivity; 3) Multi-Utility Network Initiative (1 investment under review); 4) Global TMT Client Engagement (global partnership with leading financial sponsor to invest in EM); 5) Satellite; 6) Small Cell and Distributed Antenna Systems; 7) Cloud and Data Infrastructure (3 investments committed; 3 under review); 8) Energy Solutions for Data Centres (1 investment under review) 9) Cloud Services (2 investments under review); 10) Submarine Cables Global Platform (3 investments under review). Core contributor to IFC’s Corporate Deep Dive on Digital Infrastructure. Led the IFC Corporate Task Force to develop and implement a Cybersecurity Risk Management Framework for IFC investments. As a result of these efforts, in two years since its creation, the team under my oversight originated and supported over $833M of new commitments, de-risking and bringing to bankability new IFC investments in cloud and data infrastructure, FiberCos, and TowerCos in Europe, Asia, Latin America and Africa. In my previous experience at the World Bank and IADB, my operations leveraged over $25bn. of private sector investment in emerging markets.
