Mrs. Claude Owona Ekoto is a seasoned finance professional with more than 15 years of work experience in cash management, commercial and retail banking, with international banks like HSBC and Societe Generale. She has sales and strategic experience in mature markets (UK, France, Canada, USA and Hong Kong) and in emerging economies (India, Cameroon and Burkina Faso). In her previous role as deputy CEO, she oversaw the retail and commercial banking departments of Societe Generale Burkina Faso. In her current role with the IFC, she focus on key enablers for SME, climate and gender finance with financial institutions across the West and Central Africa region. Mrs. Claude Owona Ekoto started her career in France with the banks Credit Agricole and Societe Generale, then she moved to the USA for pursue graduate studies. After that she joined HSBC in Asia, then moved to Africa with Societe Generale in 2011. She holds a BS in Accounting/Finance from Audencia Nantes School of Management (France) and an MBA from the Ohio State University (USA) with a major in Investment Management. An avid lover of cheetahs, she is a donor and contributor to The Ann van Dyk Cheetah Centre in South Africa. She enjoys travelling and discovering new cultures, and is a firm believer in the power of growing one’s own food and the power of agriculture on the African continent.
