About John Groesbeek

John heads the IFC Syndications Asia Pacific team which arranges syndications and co‐financings on all projects in the region on which IFC is the anchor lender or investor. Co‐financiers include banks, DFIs/multilaterals, investment funds, increasingly regional local lenders on the back of local currency financing structures, and institutional investors amongst others through the new MCPP co-financing program. John is also involved in several capital market development initiatives including the APLMA Project Finance committee, and the APLMA Green and Sustainable committee which is close to his heart. John has over 25 years of international capital markets and treasury experience. He started his career at ABNAMRO in the Debt Capital Markets team in Amsterdam, Singapore and New York. He then moved to IFC HQ in Washington, DC where he performed a variety of roles in the Treasury/Syndications VPU. Initially he managed IFC’s bond issuance program including the Globals and several domestic bond offerings in Latin America and Northern Africa. As a next step he headed the Latin America Syndications team, and since 2012 he has led the Asia Pacific Syndications team initially from HK and currently from Singapore. In 2018H1 he also performed the role of Acting Deputy Treasurer for Asia Pacific. John obtained his Banking and Finance degree and RBA Investment Management degree in the Netherlands, and holds an Executive Master degree from INSEAD
